In general, within the same state it&#039;s usually cheaper in urban areas, since there are more gas stations and therefore more competition.  

But on the flip side, urban areas sometimes require cleaner-burning gas due to smog, which drives up the price.</description>

I live in small town in state of NY &amp;   gas prices are usually cheaper in Rochester , the closest large city to where I live.  There are 2 gas stations there that drop gas prices by 3 to 4 cents with a car wash. The price of gas here is $3.88 a gallon now.</description>

Right now, there is no gas in the stations in my home town.
The word is if and when they do get gas it will be  five  dollars a gallon.</description>
