Are people who complain about gas prices too lazy to change their lifestyle?

nickthaniel1 asked:

Couldn’t they move closer to work?

Use public transportation, walk or bike?

Buy a more fuel efficient vehicle?

If they took low gas prices for granted don’t they mostly have themselves to blame?

This latest rise in gas prices (4 years) has to do with greed. There could be more refineries and oil production but then the price would be lower and the bosses would not be getting their billions in stock options.

  • Chrissy:

the higher gas prices are also affecting groceries, and all aspects of life. I walk anywhere that I can, and only fill my tank every 2 weeks. But when other charges increase we all feel the pain.

so because of higher gas prices,I have to change my lifestyle?
So I need to pay higher rent to live closer to work?I would have to take time off work to find an apartment. And where I work is a high rent area and I’m not going to find another job

As far as buying a more fuel efficient vehicle,my car is almost paid for,so now, because of higher gas prices,I need to trade it in and have 5 MORE years of car payments?

As far as public transportation goes, I dont have 3 hours a day to waste taking buses to work.

And its not being lazy…I dont see why I need to uproot my life because big oil wants to make more money….all I know is that its gonna be a tax write off next year

Hmm let’s look at these shall we,
my wife and I both work less than 10 miles from home.
Public transportation here is a joke(hell it was in New Jersey as well), in fact the only place I’ve lived that had good was Portland,OR. The buses here start at 7am and stop at 10p, well my wife’s job starts at 11p and mine starts at 6a so those are not options. Walking yeah right I really want to leave at 2am to walk to work, then work an 8 hr day. And there’s no way in hell am I taking a bike on the unlit roads around here.
Buy a more fuel efficient vehicle, it’s not like we’re running around in Escalades or something, my wife drives a Kia Optima and I have a Chevy Cobalt(a tight squeeze for 2 adults and 3 teenagers BTW), neither of which guzzle gas, and anything smaller is too small for our family really.

I currently live in a decent area for families and my children have grown roots here. Anyplace between here and my office is not as decent an area. Aside from the fact that if I sell my house I will lose about… Oh I don’t know, over $100,000 that I still owe.

Use public transportation, walk or bike?
Only one way to get to work, 14 miles straight down the 71. No public buses run that route, no bicycles allowed on the freeways… And walking 14 miles??? I start work at 6:00am…

Buy a more fuel efficient vehicle?
I am married with children. Aside from the obvious bills, the vehicles I own are paid for and are still running perfectly. If you want to GIVE me the money to buy a new “more efficient” vehicle, then that’s a different story.

If they took low gas prices for granted don’t they mostly have themselves to blame?
Low gas prices??? I still remember when gas was less than $0.75 / gallon. That was a while ago, but what exactly is your point with this one???

I’m thinking you don’t have mouths to feed or a mortgage to pay. Otherwise you would be asking something like, “Am I the only one who’s getting killed because of these gas prices?

Bottom line, our lifestyle HAS changed… And I am still complaining about gas prices…

I assume by the tone of your question, you make a considerable amount of $$ and therefore are unaffected by the rise of gas prices.
If so, then you are out touch with the rest of the world that sits mostly in middle income bracket.
