Hello everyone! I am doing a little survey on gas prices, and I would really appreciate your cooperation of answering the following questions about gas prices. Thank you very much!
GAS PRICES SURVEY:
1. Why do you think gas prices are extremely high now?
2. What should be a reasonable price for gas?
3. Any predictions about what can happen to gas prices in the future based on the past and present price changes?
4. What other sources can be used to replace petroleum?
5. If you were to write a proposal to the US President about decreasing or moderating gas prices, what would you say?
thank you everyone for your coperation! I really appreciate it!

im only gonna answer 1 2 and 3
1. **** IT
2. about 3.05
3. woah thats an easy one, 6.35
1. I think gas prices are extremely high now because of a shortage. I think we’re using our natural resources up too quickly, and we’re paying for it now. But who knows, the government can do what they want…
2. A reasonable price for gas is $1.98. Anybody remember those days?
3. Based on the present and past changes, I think gas prices in the future will continue to skyrocket; meaning – we have to find another alternative.
4. Other sources to replace petroleum… maybe electric sources? At this point in the economy this’s all we can assume.
5. Proposal to the President; DO SOMETHING!
1 china and India – growing demand and stipid Ameraicans
2 supply and demand – dumb question
3 they will rise as OPEC makes the rules and the world is not converting to other energy to change it.
4 none as of yet. Corn costs just as much to get from field to consumer.
5 tax incentives based on MPG of thier vehicle. Pressuring auto makers to increase standards of MPG – but they ( big 3 ) are the main finacial contributers to politicians, Cant do a thing about prices as they are on the WORLD market and not controlled by Americans.
1-yes
2-$2.00 gal
3-$6.00 gal. by years end
4-hybrid cars and electric
5- do the federal tax removal for the summer
—open are reserve fields & pump more …
Oil in the global market is traded with the dollar. The weaker the dollar is, the less oil you get. As the dollar gets weaker the oil and then gas gets more expensive. Besides the fact that oil is getting more expensive due to demand in 3rd world nations. One reason for the dollar’s decline is the deficit, which is growing due to the war in Iraq.
I think gas will continue to rise, $5.00 a gallon in the near future will most likely happen.
Along with the super rising fuel costs, car makers will now be forced to come up with alternate fuels (Argentina already did) The Lobbyists will not be able to kill new technologies any longer.
1. I think it’s due to a combination of high demand/too much dependency on oil and greedy oil executives/anyone else who profits from the situation. I’ve never really FULLY researched the subject to fully understand it…have only heard others talk about it. Some blame OPEC, some blame oil executives, some blame demand…but what I find interesting is that no matter what’s going on with the price of oil per barrel, the top oil/gasoline companies continue to report HUGE profits quarter after quarter. I say they need to lower prices and stop being so greedy.
2. $1.50/gallon for regular ; $1.65/gallon for premium
3. Unless people in power do something about it, I see prices continuing to rise because all of us “little guys” can’t do a thing about it. You have to get to work, you have to go buy groceries…as long as we drive vehicles we will need gas. They could raise gas to $8.00 a gallon if they wanted. And in reality, what could you REALLY do about it?
4. Just about anything if you think about it. I reference the saying: “If your mind can think it, it can be done.”…or something to that effect. But seriously, the technology would have to be created to make it work, but you could make cars run off of leaves and sticks if you wanted to…or air…or water. Why not? It’s not completey inconceivable. 100 years ago we did not have computers, or awesome medical equipment that can scan the inside of your body. There is SO much technology out there that does stuff most of know nothing about it. So I don’t feel silly in thinking that, if someone WANTED to, the technology can’t be created for automobiles to be powered by and run off of just about anything we wanted.
5. The current president? Nothing. He profits from this scenario and I believe has a hand in it. I read an article last week which detailed how Bush exclaimed that the only way to reduce gas prices is to dig for MORE oil and build MORE refineries. I’m not going to turn this into an ugly political spat, but less just say this current guy isn’t going to listen to any proposal about reducing gas prices. (It’s so hard to not resort to name calling).
Any President? – The proposal would have to be for him and Congress…but simple: Make a law. Limit gas prices to a maximum of $2.50/gallon. That’s it. No matter what’s going on in the world, gas can’t go above that price, no matter what. If one company can’t survive on that…so be it. They go out of business and eventually we may only have 1 or 2 choices of gas to buy. So what. $2.50/max. And if every company decides to go out of business, then selling gasoline could become a government job..with 100% of the profits and sales going to the US government. I don’t think we’d care if we only had to pay $2.50 a gallon.
The gas price inflations is based on 2 things. #1 being that the world economy sets the price of oil not the oil companies.
The US only gets about 6-9% of its oil from the Middle East so to think that we are dependant on them is total BS. Saudi does happen to set the price on crude however. If they set the price at $130 per barrel then the other producers will follow. The Middle East supplies China and Russia as there main source and to compair the demand of the US and China is night and day. China consumes on average 1 1/2 more times the oil that the US does so that drives the price up. Saudi knowing that people will always pay can price it accordingly. Then you have the rest of the process. When we get the oil in crude it is unprocessed. We also have to pay for importing the oil back to the US and then purifiying the oil. Next they have to change it into whatever products are needed so there is another up charge.
WE had reasonable prices of gas during the Reagan years. Unfortionatly the world seems to think that gas prices rise due to the republican party. It is nothing more than a fairy tail that republicans who are involved in oil companies as a means of profit shareing has any influance on the price. Statistically ever sence the democrats have taken controle of Congress the price of gas has trippled in relation to the rise of gas during the time when republicans had the majority. OUr elected liers did what they do best which is make empty promeses to the people just to get elected and then line there own pockest with money. Nancy Pelosi promised gas prices would fall by at least 20% when the democrats had controle. She even had shown the plan that alleged democrats were going to push on day one of gaining power. So what do we have now? Statistics show the increase and not one word from the camp of Pelosi or her henchmen. Gas should not be more that $1.05 per gallon in realistic terms however now that the oil producing countries know they can get over $120 a barrel I doubt we will ever see a reduction less than $80 a barrel unless we cease on useing it as a primary source.
While many Americans seem to think tht the curret gas and oil companies in the US are overjoyed about the big $ hike in gas prices, they are wrong. The companies are actually more worried now than ever about the price. Something happens when you are charging $8 a gallon for gas and no one is buying it. Follow that theory and you will understand what I am talking about.
There are other means to produce energy and fuel consumption but the issue is the price to obtain that. We all complain about the pump now and if you think that is bad try to overhaul the worlds way of useing gas with another alternative. Ethenaol fuel is the most practical meathod but until our congress allows it we will continue to keep paying at the pump. This is a prblem with both parties sitting on there ***** and providing empty promises. We need to rise as a people and eject these idiots that were elected on empty promises and replace them with peole who can produce.
My proposal to the President would be to simpley pass a bill to force the car manufacturing buisnesses to produce vehicals that can function on 75-100 MPG. The technology has been developed and as a matter of fact back in 1979 it was built by a man in Ohio. His idea was bought and destroyed due to the fact that the oil companies and auto industry would have taken a hit. I would also tell him to start drilling in Alaska and become dependant on our own country and take care of ourself instead of the rest of the world. Its pathetic that we are always coming to every country but our own when a disaster happens. Get rid of the idiots in congress who are “bleeding hearts” for everyone else but us.
1. Higher price of oil.
2. At this point I’d be happy with $2.50/gal
3. Prices will rise through the summer driving season then drop a bit.
4. Ethanol. But not from corn, that is driving the price of food up. Better choices would be corn stalks, saw grass, and even municipal waste which yields nearly seven times more fuel than corn kernels. The first cellulosic plants are expected to come online in 2009.
5. Tell the “Greens” to shove it and get more refineries built. Also the number of blends of gas should be reduced. There are approximately 20 distinct “boutique blends” of gasoline sold in the United States, some for summer and some for winter. Prices usually spike when refineries switch between blends.
