Oil prices have plummeted – The government is collecting less in gas tax – How long before the gas tax goes up?

8***L asked:

We did what the government told us to do – bought smaller and more efficient autos, we took the bus, we carpooled, we used our bicycles more often, we cut down on road trips.

We did with less – will the government do the same?

The government is collecting less gas taxes because the prices are down(gas tax is based on a percentage of the price) – How long before the government raises gas taxes to compensate for the lower gas prices and less tax revenue.

Very good observation! You know that’s coming! And just what happened to the “windfall” governments collected during those peak times?

I just think that the oil companies after throttleing us into an inch of our lives are pulling back from the abyss so that everyone will by their SUVs again and make them even more money. They’re unpredictable and untrustworthy. But I dont think that the government will give us a break. Once oil prices stabilize they will drive up oil prices no matter who’s in power but for differant reasons

i think taxes on gas will go up the day after the great one takes office.will they still blame bush????????

  • Earth: The Connected Home:

Liberal welfare state governments NEVER lower taxes. This is just an example of something that can be used as an “excuse” to take more of our money.

The idea of smaller government is not in the grand plan for at least the next four years.

    It was the plan.

In January 2007, oil cost $47 a barrel, gasoline was cheap.

Then the democratic party gained control of congress.

They immediantly put thier plan to raise oil and gas prices into effect.

To try and make the republicans look bad.

Now that Obama was elected, they are letting oil and gas prices go back down to normal.

It’ll be going up on Jan. 21st.

My wife is a Manger at a Convenience Store, and she has already been told to expect drastic price changes.
