What we need is a motorcycle similar to the old Corbin Sparrow – 1 seater commuter vehicles that will get people to and from work without pushing the 3000 lbs. of steel of an SUV. The automaker that makes those – and cheaply – will make millions in today’s market.

Hughess3, the problem is not a lack of crude oil. Refineries in the US are currently at full capacity. All drilling will do is move more oil from the ground into storage tanks waiting to be refined. It will do nothing for the supply of refined heating oil and gasoline.

Of course, if you happen to be an oil driller or a storage tank construction crew, it will be good news. Other than that, though …

I want alternative energy too. We are on the same side. But I also am realistic about things. We are not going to have an alternative energy break through for about 20 years.

China and Cuba have teamed up and are about to start drilling 60 miles off the Coast of Florida. That makes me mad because our current laws ban drilling within 200 miles.

Yes, we need to develop new energy sources, such as solar power and fuel cells. The transition to these sources, however, is going to take some time. These energy sources are still far too expensive for the American public as a whole to implement. What we need to do is drill our own supply (while keeping to environmental standards), and then we can stop worrying about OPEC and focus all our resources on developing these alternative sources.

here is a not so nice way to cut oil prices follow if you can. The USA raises the price of Exported food to $500per barrel, this causes food shortage and conflicts start in developing countries over food, Population reduces in these countries=less demand for oil= lower cost of oil per barrel. evil but true like it or not.

If Superman were real, he’d dig deep into the earth in a few seconds and put all the American oil in a place where we could use it until we have alternatives. Closest thing we have to Superman is the Free Market with minimal activism of the Reds and Greens. If we act in our best interests, we can achieve.

Does it make sense to ‘reserve’ oil while our grandmothers freeze, our trucker’s stop trucking food, our children have no safe rides and the world is in chaos from food riots?

They did a study on our mass transportation in the city I live and it costs $86,000 per person to operate it that use it.

If we’d just buy every a free cab ride when they need it or buy riders a new car and fill it with gas for a year, we’d save money.
